Postgraduate course templates are to be used when you are writing and/or rewriting your course notes. They ensure all our postgraduate courses meet the requirements as set out in the UNSW Template for Course Handouts. They also ensure consistency in the format of all course notes across the School. We have included some tips on how to write your course outline and sections in the templates.

The Course Outline Template is designed to serve two main purposes:

1. Provide you with an outline of what needs to be included in your course outline - this appears in BLACK text - which is already formatted - so you can use it as it is. In some instances you will need to fill in the blanks or type over existing text - you need not worry about formatting the text yourself when you do this.
2. Give you some guidance as to how to write the different components of the outline - guidance appears in RED.

Section Template

The Section Template provides you with the format you need so it is a matter of filling in the blanks. We have chosen to use the term Section, replacing module, chapter, unit and so on for consistency. You will also notice how we have numbered each section - 1.2, 2.1 etc. and that this numbering system applies to all readings, activities and page numbering.
