Publication Collection

The University has commenced its UNSW Research Publication Collection process for 2016. Research publications can be any published piece of work resulting from academic research, eg Journal Articles, Books, Book Chapters, Conference Papers, Research Reports.

Categories included in the Collection are:

  • Book – Authored Research
  • Book Chapter – Commercial Publisher
  • Journal Article – Refereed, Scholarly Journal
  • Conference Paper – Full Paper Refereed
  • Research Reports for an External Body – New category this year

The Annual Research Outputs Collection (AROC) is UNSW’s internal process for collecting detailed, high-quality information on research outputs produced by UNSW researchers. It was established in 2016 to replace the annual HERDC publications collection.

The information collected as a part of AROC will be used as the basis for UNSW’s ERA submission, to populate a range of university systems and profiles, and for a range of internal reporting activities.

Procedure to include your publications

The Research Output System (ROS) records and manages UNSW’s research output publications. ROS is designed to find and retrieve your publications from the web by searching a range of data sources. ROS collects these publication records into a single area for you to claim or reject. ROS searches a number of well known journal databases to bring in records of papers published by researchers. The sources currently searched are: Scopus, Web of Science, arXiv, PubMed, RePEc, dblp. As not everyone’s publications will appear in one of the online data sources, it is also possible to add publication records manually.

ROS then feeds information about your publications into a number of systems including UNSW’s Institutional Analysis and Reporting Office’s system, the Research Gateway and a number of Faculty web pages.

To ensure your publications are up to date login to ROS:

  • Check ‘My Publications’ to ensure all pending items have been claimed or rejected
  • Check your 2016 publications list to ensure it is complete
  • Check your HERDC tab to ensure all eligible publications are nominated
