Job description
The Project Officer - Evaluation will assist the Housing Partnerships Team with the coordination and collection of data for 15 trial projects that are being conducted between Housing NSW and a range of other government agencies and NGOs, under the Housing and Human Services Accord. These trial projects are focusing on providing housing and support to a range of clients with complex needs including young people leaving out-of-home care, juvenile offenders, adult offenders with mental illness/intellectual disability, adults and young people with disability, and families experiencing violence.

The key duties of the position will be:
    • Liaise with all stakeholders across all trials to ensure they understand the data collection requirements - this requires explaining the data collection tools. Liaison will require attending some meetings in different locations, and also following up by phone.
    • Each month, follow up all stakeholders to request the data
    • Check all data and cross-check matching of data for clients between data sources
    • Where data is inaccurate or incomplete, follow up stakeholders, and where necessary meet with them to review data requirements
    • Liaise with consultant who is conducting evaluation

The position is for up to 2 days (14 hours) per week, from June 2008 for up to 12 months. The days are negotiable and can be flexible from week to week, although there may be some specific meetings that must be attended.

The applicant
The applicant will be someone who is interested in the human services sector with a focus on people with complex needs including social disadvantage. The applicant should have a strong interest in research and evaluation.

Essential
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Ability to manage own workload with limited supervision
    • Some experience in liaising with government agencies and NGOs
    • Excellent verbal communication skills - must be confident, diplomatic, articulate
    • Excellent written communication skills - including correspondence with stakeholders
    • Understanding of the principles of evaluation and the importance of good data management
    • Be able to use Excel and Word competently
    • Full drivers licence

Desirable
    Project management experience
