Influenza Vaccination Campaign

NSW Health Influenza Vaccination Campaign Evaluation

We are conducting a new study to explore the attitudes of people who have health conditions that place them at greater risk of severe flu. We are interested to find out what they think about the flu and the vaccine. We are also very interested to find out what people think about the 2016 NSW Health Winter Influenza Campaign. We are hoping to use the results of this study to inform the development of a new advertising and education campaign for the 2017 influenza season.

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Are aged 18 years and older
  • Are fluent in English
  •  Have a health condition that makes you at greater risk from catching the flu such as cardiac disease, chronic respiratory condition (e.g. asthma, COPD), other chronic illness (e.g. diabetes, renal failure), chronic neurological conditions or impaired immunity.

We are looking for participants who get the flu vaccine as well as those who don’t!

If you decide to take part in the research study, you will be asked to undertake an in-depth interview. During the interview, a member of the research team will ask you questions about your views on influenza and about the vaccine, as well as whether you saw any of the NSW Health influenza vaccine advertisements. We will not ask you to reveal any personal information on your health.

The interview will take approximately 1 hour. With your permission we would like to audio record the interview. You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, which will ask you some basic demographic and vaccine history questions.  We expect this activity to take up to 2 minutes.
