School Activities
Seminar Program
The School conducts a dynamic and diverse program of public seminars throughout the academic year involving School staff and visiting experts from Australia and overseas. The program is designed to provide the opportunity for staff, conjoint appointments, students, public health practitioners and researchers to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the many issues that make up public health at the beginning of the 21st century.
The Seminar series takes two forms: lunchtime seminars that are held in the School, and ‘reinventing health’ half-day, full-day or evening seminars that are held at different venues in the university and off campus.
Lunchtime seminars provide a forum for visiting experts, staff and students to showcase their particular areas of interest, to exchange ideas and to stimulate discussion around emerging issues. Our PhD students are also included as presenters in the program each semester.
The larger ‘reinventing health’ seminars usually involve several key speakers and act as a forum for debate on a range of priority public health issues.
Anyone with an interest in public health is encouraged to attend. Masters students by coursework and research are welcome. Most seminars are free of charge; we ask only that you register your interest beforehand.
If you would like to be on the email list for notification of future seminars, please contact Jacqui Miller.
