The Project Manager Frequent Presenters will be responsible for:
- Developing strategies for linking data between emergency services.
- Developing criteria for defining “frequent presenters” to individual emergency services.
- Describing the contribution of mental health, alcohol and drug problems to those with multiple presentations to individual emergency services.
- Developing an agreed definition of those who are frequent presenters to more than one emergency service.
- Describing the contribution of mental health, alcohol and drug problems to those in this cohort of “multi-service frequent presenters”.
- Providing information to allow the development of appropriate service models for those who are “multi-service frequent presenters” and have mental health or AOD problems.
This is a 12-month Project position with potential for extension for another 12 months.

Project Manager Non Acute Benchmarking - NSW Health, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Office

The Project Manager Non-Acute Benchmarking has a statewide role that coordinates projects and strategies aimed at promoting and evaluating access to safe and effective non-acute inpatient mental health care. These activities may include the development of strategies for coordination of non-acute bed resources; activities which support clinical care, clinical standards and workforce development for inpatient services; policy advice on planning and commissioning of non-acute inpatient services. This is a 12-month position.

PhD Scholarship: The George Institute for International Health
Closing Date: Monday 28 October 2008
This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis, commencing Semester 1, 2009.
The project is a large scale case-control study which is being conducted in NSW, QLD and WA. It aims to determine the role of key risk factors in heavy vehicle crashes, and to identify strategies to improve safety within the heavy vehicle industry. The PhD may be completed in epidemiology, psychology or health economics, depending on the interest of the student.
Applicants should hold a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with 1st or upper 2nd class honours. A master’s level qualification in public health, and/or experience or training in epidemiology, would be an advantage. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens. The scholarship stipend is $25,627 per annum (tax exempt if only source of income).

Scholarship - rebuilding China's earthquake-devastated Sichuan province
The Vice-Chancellor has launched a $300,000 post-graduate scholarship fund to develop skills vital to rebuilding China's earthquake-devastated Sichuan province. The fund will provide an opportunity for ten Chinese students to study a range of one-year Masters by Coursework programs at UNSW, in fields deemed crucial to the redevelopment of the Sichuan province.
A campaign has been organised by UNSW Foundation to provide stipends of $18,000 each to the scholarship winners, to help with living expenses.
